In Her Own Words...
My purpose crystallized in the crucible of my own grief. After a devastating personal loss, I hit a depth of pain so profound it felt like drowning. In that darkness, something shifted. I looked at my community and saw others navigating similar storms, silent, isolated, carrying burdens too heavy to shoulder alone. My own suffering became a lens; how do we ease this for others? How do we build lifelines?
It stopped being about my healing and became about our resilience. I reframed my pain not as a wound to hide, but as fuel to light the way for others. I turned my lowest point outward, writing to help others thrive. To create spaces where vulnerability meets strategy, where stories become tools for connection and change. That is when service became my compass: transforming personal anguish into collective power, ensuring no one feels as alone as I did. It’s not just what I do; it’s the heartbeat of why I do it.
About Hear 2 Help
The spark for Hear 2 Help began in community homes, where I taught youth to find their voice through education. I saw how education was about liberation. When a shy teen wrote her first poem about identity and read it aloud, trembling, but proud, I witnessed the power of learning to ignite self-worth. That moment, watching young people realize their stories mattered, lit a fire in me.
I started there because education is the bedrock of change. Teaching youth to harness language as a tool for empowerment showed me how systemic silencing could be dismantled. I soon realized; what if their communities couldn’t amplify these voices either? Nonprofits lacked the words to secure funding. Leaders burned out, carrying visions they couldn’t articulate.
Hear 2 Help grew from that gap. We evolved from classroom workshops to a consultancy where education remains our compass. We train organizations to tell their stories strategically, design curricula that center marginalized experiences, and mentor the next generation of communicators. What began with empowering youth now fuels entire ecosystems, because when people learn to wield their stories, they change narratives.
