The Young King of the North, Nathan Baya

Nathan Baya

One of the definitions of the word legend is someone who is

an extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field.

This is what Simone and I describe our guest today, Nathan Baya. His tenacity is beautiful to witness. His energy is infectious, but most of all, he has a heart of gold.

In 2018, Nathan Baya had put on 15 independent events, some through adversity and in the process, he has opened doors for countless of local artists along the way.

(Editor’s note: Simone and I had the pleasure of attending a few of them, including the charity event for Africa, last February.)

Not only is Nathan Baya a budding emcee, but he is also the Founder of the Organization Jane Street Speaks, and a huge activist for mental health.

This week we sit down with the young rising legend in the Toronto Hip Hop scene, who happens to be no stranger to the Hear 2 Help You set.

We talk about the importance of giving back, opening doors for other artists, misconceptions of mental health in Hip Hop, and his upcoming trip to our nation’s capital to perform for the Michaëlle Jean Foundation & Federal Government’s Black History Month festivities.

Family, sit back and enjoy as we present to you, Nathan Baya.

Till next week.
