Make It Easy Teaching Tip; Let Your Child See You Reading
Welcome to this week’s Make It Easy Teaching Tip for busy parents and students alike. If this is the first time you are coming across this series, no problem, it’s very simple. Every two weeks, Hear 2 Help offers an effective way to assist our community with easy to follow guides to enhance the learning experience.
Today’s focus is on all about reading. We all know that our children see everything that we do, so what a better way to provide our young scholars with good habits. We all know that reading is fundamental and just to emphasize the importance of it, read the next sentence very carefully.
Studies have shown that if a child reads for at least 20 minutes a day, it exposes them to at least 1.8 million new words for the year.
So the next time you have some free time with your children, let them see you read. Eventually they’ll ask questions about what you are reading and more importantly, follow in your footsteps and pick up a book instead of the IPad.
Parents, would you try this the next time you have some down time?
Let us know. We would love to hear your feedback.
